Paul Anger, the Editor and Publisher of the Detroit Free Press, has been awarded the 2009 Benjamin C. Bradlee Editor of the Year Award by the National Press Foundation. The award carries a $5,000 honorarium and an engraved crystal vase. It will be presented at NPF’s 27th Annual Awards Dinner, Tuesday February 16, 2010, in Washington.

Washington, November 19 -- Mike Keefe of the Denver Post has been awarded the 2009 Berryman Award for Editorial Cartooning for a wide-ranging series of drawings that poked fun at politicians, journalists and public perceptions.
The award carries a $2,500 prize and a crystal trophy. The award will be presented at the 27th annual National Press Foundation Awards Dinner, Tuesday night, February 16th, 2010, at the Washington Hilton Hotel. National journalism leader and veteran editor Bill Kovach has been awarded the 2010 W.M. Kiplinger Award for Distinguished Contributions to Journalism from the National Press Foundation.
“Perhaps no one in his time has more epitomized the values of our profession—the sense that journalism must be tough but fair, uncompromising but humane, and above all searching, always asking more questions—than Bill Kovach,” the NPF judges said.

WASHINGTON, November 10: The National Press Foundation has announced the winners of the 2009 Everett McKinley Dirksen Awards for Distinguished Coverage of Congress, perhaps the nation’s leading award for Capitol Hill reporters. Both winners provided detailed looks at the economic bailout packages as they were considered by lawmakers.

WASHINGTON, November 12: The CBS News show, “60 MINUTES” will receive the 2009 Sol Taishoff Award for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism from the National Press Foundation.
“The show continues to excel at long-form accountability journalism at a time when all broadcast news organizations are beset by changing economics and demographics,” the judges said.
